Related Services
Fury, a globally recognized design firm, partnered with Sequoia to execute an ambitious project for Cheniere, a leading global producer of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The project was for the LNG 2023 conference in Vancouver, originally slated for Russia but relocated due to geopolitical tensions. This relocation presented Vancouver with a unique opportunity to host a high-profile international event, and Sequoia with a unique opportunity to deliver a premiere project befitting the international spotlight.
Project Overview
Sequoia faced one of its most challenging and rewarding projects to date. Cheniere’s requirements were extensive and detailed, necessitating a trade show booth that reflected their global stature. The booth needed to incorporate soundproof meeting rooms, air-conditioned spaces, complex AV capabilities, and high-end finishes. It had to be multifunctional, capable of hosting private meetings, serving meals, and showcasing the brand in the best possible light.
Fury, a global leader in experience design, led the project. Known for their innovative approach to creating compelling brand experiences, Fury provided a design concept which Sequoia then had to translate into a physical structure. Furyโs multidisciplinary team is experienced in transforming cutting-edge concepts into breathtaking realities for high-profile clients such as Red Bull, Heineken, AWS, UBS, Twitch, NVIDIA, Johnny Walker, and Mercedes.
Project Execution
Sequoiaโs task was to bring Furyโs Cheniere design vision to life while navigating the unique challenges posed by the Vancouver market. This process involved meticulous attention to detail and precision in fabrication to ensure that the final product matched the high standards set by the client.
Given Cheniereโs expectations shaped by their experiences in premier international markets, Sequoia’s PMs had to manage expectations within the limitations of the Vancouver market. This included addressing differences in materials, timelines, and construction methodologies, ensuring that the final product met global standards despite local constraints.
Collaboration and Challenges
The installation process spanned six days and involved a coordinated effort from multiple departments and key stakeholders to ensure flawless execution. The build’s complexity required close collaboration with electricians, HVAC specialists, and other trades to integrate all systems seamlessly. Vancouverโs smaller market posed significant supply chain challenges. Unlike larger cities such as Las Vegas or Chicago, Vancouver has fewer suppliers for the specialized trade show build materials needed for a project of this nature. Sequoia and the Fury team creatively adapted local resources, leveraging longstanding relationships to meet the projectโs highly specific requirements.
Project Highlights
The booth was an intricate blend of design and engineering, featuring high-end millwork, painted surfaces, glass-enclosed soundproof rooms, and advanced lighting and meeting management systems. One particularly challenging aspect was the need for specialized lighting, including custom chandeliers, which required last-minute adaptations and resourcefulness when key components were inadvertently discarded by a supplier.
Client Feedback
Sequoia received overwhelmingly positive feedback from Cheniere and Fury, including high praise for craftsmanship, attention to detail, and ability to overcome numerous challenges. The feedback highlight was that the quality of Sequoiaโs work exceeded that of similar projects executed in other (much larger) international markets.
Conclusion
By navigating complex logistical challenges, adapting to local market conditions, and maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship, the Sequoia team demonstrated why we are a trusted partner for clients with the most demanding projects. This collaboration with Fury is a example of Sequoia’s capability to meet international standards and underscores the importance of local partnerships supporting global perspectives in the quest to deliver exceptional results.
