The Bosa Solhouse project was imagined to showcase the Solhouse 6035 development by Bosa Properties Inc. The challenge was to create a multifunctional event space that mirrored the luxury, innovation, and natural-world-connectedness of the Solhouse residences. Wildfire was tasked with delivering an environment that embodied the future of living spaces, integrating sustainability with modern luxury. To ensure the project was delivered to Bosaโs impeccable standards, the Wildfire team turned to Sequoia for support.
The centerpiece of the project was the construction of a modular event space from two twenty-foot shipping containers. This 320 square-foot venue was complemented by an expansive 800 square-foot deck, designed to provide a seamless flow from indoor to outdoor areas. The use of a retractable glazing system from Lumon Canada, similar to those installed in Solhouse balconies, underscored the theme of transparency and open design.
Wildfire, led by Bianca Knop, spearheaded client relations and concept design, ensuring that every element of the project resonated with the themes of innovation and community engagement. “Sequoia really did a fantastic job of bringing those elements to life as per the original vision. We knew we needed their technical and fabrication expertise to bring this to life,” Bianca remarked. “(they are) really great at just being transparent in terms of what the delivery timelines are for things… very good at making sure that all the technical aspects are covered.”
Sequoia’s role was critical in the technical realization of the project. From the intricate installation of custom-built features like the ‘jumbo cards’ at the entrance to managing the logistics of materials and construction, Sequoia ensured that the vision crafted by Wildfire was executed flawlessly. The integration of greenery and flexible design elements allowed the space to host a variety of events, from intimate gatherings to larger corporate functions, showcasing the versatility of the design.
No project is without its challenges, and for Bosa, it was tight timelines and complex technical demands. “They’re very thorough and kind of think of all the elements, details, and they take their time to do the right work and to do good work.” said Bianca. Sequoia’s experience allowed the project to sidestep logistical hurdles, such as coordinating the arrival of materials from multiple locations across Canada and the USA, which was crucial in keeping the project on track.
An important requirement for the venue was its adaptability. The space was designed to be reconfigurable, accommodating different layouts and functions. This adaptability was a key selling point for Bosa, as it demonstrated the potential of modular design in real estate development.
The completion of the Bosa Solhouse project had a significant impact on the local community and prospective buyers. The innovative use of space and the emphasis on sustainable design principles served as a model for future developments. The project not only enhanced Bosa Properties’ brand but also set a new standard for event spaces in the real estate industry.
Feedback from the project was overwhelmingly positive, with clients and visitors alike impressed by the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the space. “(The project) turned out beautifully; โฆ it definitely looked a lot like what they wanted,” Bianca added. “… it’s been very well received by guests, clients, and partnersโฆ they’re very happy with it.”
As Sequoia looks to the future, the success of the Bosa Solhouse project stands as a beacon of their capabilities in transforming spaces and experiences. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, Sequoia continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in experiential design, building spaces that are not only visually captivating but also deeply integrated with their clients’ brands and values.
